These levels can be uploaded online and played. There is a workshop in the game that allows you to make your own custom levels. You can only do this once however, like in Tipping Stars. One for Bronze, two for Silver and three for Gold. Beating a level with a certain star gives you a certain amount of "Mini Tokens", this game's form of currency. In bosses, getting a gold star requires you to beat the boss without losing a single Mini Mario.
To get a gold star, it's recommended to get all collectables in the level, including the returning M-Coin. Double tapping Mini Mario will open the Cap Switch menu, where you can choose another Mini to give the cap to (if they can use the cap).Īdditionally, there are bosses in similar vain to previous games, where you must shoot your Mini Marios at Donkey Kong and his several contraptions.Īfter beating any level or boss, you're given a rank by four types of stars: blank, bronze, silver and gold. Holding the Mini Mario will keep the cap in place, which allows a Mini Mario to bounce on the cap as if it were a spring. You throw your cap by tapping Mini Mario. This can lead to additional abilities, such as being able to walk on spikes as Mini Shy Guy. Now, one of your Mini Marios have the ability to possess enemies. It's your task to guide all of your Mini Marios through several puzzle-like courses. Donkey Kong: New Donk Venture plays very similarly to previous Mario vs. Donkey Kong, lit up with happiness, cheered and Mario agreed to his help. Mario's trusted friend, Cappy, agrees to help by acting as the cap of one of Mario's Mini Mario toys.Īfter being knocked off of the Mini Mario Tower, Donkey Kong smashes his head across the concrete making him dizzy. In a rage, Donkey Kong kidnaps Pauline and climbs to the top of the tower. However, he's rejected by Mario due to trust issues. However, Donkey Kong is very happy to also help. His exchange would state that he could sell and promote his toys in New Donk City, with profit going to both him and Pauline. This mode is fun to play through the game again in a different way, or a good introduction if you find the classic mode just a bit too difficult. After the events of Super Mario Odyssey, Mario approaches Mayor Pauline about a business venture for his Toy Company. Plus, he's cool, with his surfboard and sunglasses. He has some extra abilities and more hearts, which makes the game a bit easier. The game is the same as the WiiU version, with the exception of slightly polished graphics and the addition of Funky Mode. This last bonus level is super challenging, because the platforms are just a bit more challenging and there are no save points to help you. 2 Bonus levels are found by finding secret exits, and the last one is by collecting the letters K-O-N-G in each level. In each world there are 3 bonus levels and hidden items to unlock.

The game design is fair, so you won't lose lives in a silly way, but it comes down to your own skill and getting better. Levels get trickier and you'll really need to make use of the different abilities of your sidekicks Diddy, Dixie and Cranky Kong. The challenge starts pretty quickly in the game, actually already in the first world. If you've already played the WiiU version, it's not innovative enough Art direction: Music and graphics are top
